Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Desmond Blackburn announced today that he will leave the district to become CEO of New Teacher Center. Blackburn has served as a member of Chiefs for Change since March 2016. Chiefs for Change CEO Mike Magee issued the following statement in response to today’s news:
Desmond Blackburn is a champion for students who is committed to ensuring that all children have access to excellent schools. He has done groundbreaking work in Brevard County. Under his direction, the district has served as a national model for engaging teacher leaders and equipping educators with high-quality instructional materials. We are grateful for Desmond’s many contributions to Chiefs for Change and know that he will continue to work in the best interest of students and teachers in his new role.
