Intern, Membership and Future Chiefs (Part-Time Internship)

What We Are Looking for:

Chiefs for Change (CFC) is seeking someone with a knack for details, the ability to see a project through from conception to delivery, and a passion for education. Reporting to the Director of Membership and Future Chiefs, the intern will work with the Membership and Future Chiefs team to create, plan, and execute systems that support our future chief and membership base including vetting candidates, updating information, researching student outcomes, and providing logistical support for in-person and virtual convenings. The intern will work closely with program staff throughout the organization to maintain our client database and coordinate the collection, entry, storage, analysis, and reporting of information used to measure outcomes, formulate organizational dashboards and reports.

The role requires an individual who cares deeply about educational equity, the mission of Chiefs for Change, and the work of our members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for research and analysis, evidence of strong organizational skills, and an appetite for learning. This role is a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and update the CFC Future Chief and Membership lists
  • Conduct and source research of state and district leadership and outcomes
  • Complete other research and special projects as assigned
  • Provide general administrative support as needed
  • Provide project support as time and expertise allow

Requirements

  • Candidates must be either graduate-level students or recent graduates within one to three years of completing their degrees. A degree can be substituted with an equivalent two to four years of work experience. Other requirements include:
    • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
    • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to be effective independently
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
    • Sense of humor, strong work ethic, “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude
    • Experience using Google Apps (i.e. Gmail, calendar, Drive, Docs, Forms, etc.)
    • Proficient at PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
    • Preferred: Experience managing and updating Salesforce

Eligibility
We require that you have your own computer or laptop to complete projects and tasks. This is a remote flex internship that requires up to 20 hours per week, and that offers a flexible schedule of Monday-Friday during normal business hours. This position will be paid an hourly wage of $22 an hour as a contractor (1099 position). The internship is expected to last 6 -12 months.

Social Media Intern

What We Are Looking for:

Do you have a passion for educational equity and an interest in disrupting the status quo? Do you tweet, share, and post to social media in your sleep? We’re looking for someone with a strong interest in social media marketing and someone who is excited about and understands education policy and advocacy. The social media intern will work with CFC’s Associate as well as team members across different departments to implement the organization’s social media strategy. The intern will maintain CFC’s presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our members and the organization’s beliefs. In addition, s/he will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks as well as the CFC website. Our small team is hands on and would expect you to jump right in.

Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Build and manage CFC’s social media profiles and presence on Twitter and other relevant channels.
  • Posts updates, news, and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content.
  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our members and posts it to our accounts in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
  • Update social media accounts with photos, videos, or other content from CFC activities and events.
  • Responds to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions.
  • Grows CFC online social networks by increasing followers and interactions.
  • Completes other social media projects as assigned.

Research

  • Observes the online activity of model organizations; researches and reports on social media best practices.
  • Completes other research projects as assigned.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the CFC website.
  • Uses Twitter Analytics to assess trends and activity on the CFC Twitter page.
  • Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach and social media ROI.

Requirements

Candidates must be either graduate level students or undergraduate level students with a minimum of junior status or recent graduates within six months of completing their degrees. Other requirements include:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge.
  • A passion for local and state education policy and practice.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to be effective independently.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as research abilities.
  • Sense of humor, strong work ethic, “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude.
  • An innovator that is not afraid to present big ideas and think outside the box.
  • Experience using Google Apps (i.e. Gmail, calendar, Drive, Docs, Forms, etc.)
  • Preferred: Experience in K-12 public education, education reform, or related field.
